Excess tyre wear W213

Mate has an identical W213 to the one I own.
E220d Selenite Grey.
He rang me complaining his tyres had worn through to the 1.5mm wear line. Bought it new. Wheels and tyres 20 inch Goodyear Eagle F1 run flats.
22,000 km's and they were worn out.
He went and bought a new set of Bridgestones.

I wasn't impressed with the ride odf the 20 inch wheels so swapped them for 18 inch and bought a brand new set of tyres. Michelin PS4s opn the front and Michelin Super sports on the rear.
Changed the wheels and tyres with 11,500 km's on the clock.

Just had the car serviced at the stealers with 29,000 Km's up. The service manager informed me that the tyres were on the wear line.

19,000 K's out of a set of high priced Michies.........You heve got to be kidding me.

Service manager advised me to dump the sports tyres, go to 17 inch and put on some long life quiet tyres such as Michelin Primacy 4 ST.

Australian W213's come with AMG additions. That's what the buyers want. This includes ridiculous 20 inch wheels with Mercedes Option Runflats. Even on low spec E200's.

Fortunately I have sitting around a few sets of appropriate wheels.

I still have the original 20 inch wheels and tyres. I might just piut hem on and suffer wait until they wear themselves down next year.

80% of those 19,000 k's Ive done are highway miles.
