Removing rear hatch-door moulding

Post by 300TDT »

Hi, it's been a while since I've done this...
Do I have to remove the interior panel first to get access?
From memory, the moulding is attached by a couple of bolts / sliding mechanisms rather than the usual red fasteners?
See #93 in attached diagram.

Any tips much appreciated!

I'm guessing the moulding is NLA, too?

Hi,
if you mean the ornamental bar outside (93), it should be A1236900080 ... available still; here in Germany around 79 EUR ...

Thomas

Thanks all.

Now, I have a question about 123 690 07 80 - rear door moulding.

I thought I had a spare which I bought at a clearance sale a few years ago from a Sydney MB parts place.
But it doesn't fit... it's slightly too long and big.
No part # visible on the part or on the packaging.

The correct original part has an open back with sliding tabs whereas the part that I was sold has an enclosed back with limited slide... see attached photos.

I have ordered a correct replacement but if anyone can identify the incorrect one, I will try to sell it ...

Suspect it's for a W126 if it is bigger and longer ....

Post measurements and one of the W126 owners can confirm

I'm going to guess that you have a rear door mould for a W114/115 series. Or at a chance a later W108. They all used a very similar style. You will need to show up to the next MB club meet with your mould and see what it fits.

Thanks all

The measurements are 945mm at the longest point, and 24mm at the rubber base where it attaches to the door.

Looks like it is EZ Ziegler brand, not genuine MB , which explains the design differences
