M110 fuel pump oil leak

Post by Nabstud »

I had what I though was a weep from my fuel pump, oil looked to be leaking from the black spacer/o-ring. I replaced the fuel pump but the oil leak still occurred. Took me a few goes but I finally pin pointed the leak to be coming from the fuel pump itself. There is a small manufactured hole at the bottom behind the pump part of the casting and that is where it is leaking from. Note it is oil leaking, not fuel.

Is that hole some sort of relief valve? Is there a trick to installing the fuel pump?

Here's a pic of the leak, you can see the oil drip on the fuel pump.

It is an atmospheric vent so the diaphragm can do it's job. That looks like a cheap aftermarket pump, they are very prone to leaking. I will only use Pierburg pumps, the number is 7.02242.22.0

Bugger. This is a new pump that came with other spares when I bought the car. Only been on for maybe 200km. Is this an ok brand?

In the main menu, there is an "English" button.

Good luck and if you cannot find it I can help.

The english button doesn't work for me either when on computer - I think they set the site up with the intention but haven't quite got that far. When you hover the mouse over it there is no link... only when over the german button.

I think that website got built in the early 90 ties.

The guy still uses a fax for communication. To say he is "old school" is an understatement

If you send Thomas an email with exactly what you need, he can ask Ruddies in his own berlin dialekt.
