Mercedes Benz Restorations Parts

Post by Scottyx » Sat 10 Nov, 2018 6:14 am

G'day

Has anyone used the company "Mercedes Benz Restoration Parts"

I need a set of door seal rubbers as well as rear window rubber and boot rubber. Wondering what the quality of the parts are. I also noticed that they have things like sill panel "scuff plate"

I have been trying for a couple of weeks to order from DB Depot to get genuine parts, but have found it very hard and this other web site seems quite easy. I know it is quite a bit cheaper too, but I don't want to buy the cheap stuff if it is rubbish.

I don't mind if it is "OK but not perfect" I just don't want rubbish.

Thanks for your thoughts or experiences
Scott

A Google search doesn't bring up the store you mention (but does have a very reputable company as first unpaid listing), what is the URL?

That is all aftermarket either Chinese or Turkish rubbish. Put it all in perspective:

- There full set of seals is $340.00USD, that's around $31.00 a seal. Basically not possible if there is any degree of quality, especially with the door seals as they are made up of many differant rubber profiles and stuck together and with tape at various places to stop them from wearing and falling apart.

- Then there is the issue of it not being a "full" set, how about headlamp and tail lamp seals, b pillar seals, the pads for under the door and boot handles, the list goes on.

- Or the full set of body moulds for $175.00USD, same maths works out at the same situation.

- And they list the same moulds for series one (250S/SE) and series two (280S/SE) W108's, they are a differant mould...

We have a car at work at the moment who has these cheapo door seals. (maybe not exactly these ones, but they are cheapo seals), they don't fit correctly and look rubbish. We were also approached by a guy who had brought a set of rubbers from us and then brought the moulds from an online store like this. He got the rubbers to fit, but struggled with the body moulds, he asked us to try and fit the rear mudgaurd and tail lamp panel moulds as they have to meet up exactly together in the right place. After an hour or so we succeeded, but it still looked crap.
