Hi, Just joined,
I'm John from Goulburn,
I have fathers Mercedes W114 280E that he purchased new in 1974
She has been sitting since 1990 and I decided to get her back on the road.
Got her running, Just needed a new Fuel pump, filter and some fuel line.
and new oil etc.
Just starting on the brake rebuild.
Will need new tyres, so I was thinking of putting some more modern Mercedes/AMG wheels on her.
Maybe 17s, does anyone know what modern Mercedes has suitable wheels to fit a 114?
I think the Offset on the standard 14s is +30
Cheers, John

Re: Hi All, New from Goulburn NSW
Hi John and welcome. Getting a car back on the road that has sat for that length of time can be quite a challenge. Every bit of rubber and nylon has been aging whilst it has been sitting stationary. The ones I would warn you about are the rubber fuel lines in the engine bay. You MUST replace all of them as the d-jetronic injection cars have a very bad habit of burning to the ground due to fuel leaking from perished hoses. There is a specific type of hose and a specific hose clamp to use. Do this now and get the injectors serviced whilst they are out and you will then get many years of trouble free motoring for them.
Same applies to the brake system, caliper seals, brake hoses, master cylinder seals (buy a complete replacement unit), etc, etc.
You need to make 5 posts before you can post pictures, so post away and then we would love to see your car.

Most of the modern wheels will have an offset that is too high.
You'll need the low offset wheels that fit cars like the W107, W126, W123, W116 etc.
Something like this will probably fit, I've seen these on a W114 before;
