Help removing threaded bushes from pivot pin on upper control arm

Post by rutger kohler » Fri 20 Jul, 2018 5:43 pm

Hi, I can't get grease into the threaded bushes on both ends of the pivot on the upper control arm (the grease nipples themselves are fine). The threaded bushes have 32mm flats on them and I have tried a ring spanner, and an open ended spaner on them without much success. The shape of the upper control arm doesn't give you much room.

I don't want to buy a 32mm socket unless i am sure that is going to work as well. has anyone removed these threaded bushes themselves, and of so what did you use to remove them plse?

The W111 and W108 share the front and rear suspension.

Have a look here:

Hi, thanks for that, I have had a look but that post does not specifically talk about taking the threaded bushes off the upper control arm pivot. Rather it explains how to remove the kingpin assembly off the outer end of the upper control arm.

If you want to remove the bushes on the upper or lower arm, you better take the king pin off and the coil spring.

Unless you want to headbutt the coil spring back...

Haven't been in for a while. Have you solved this yet?

I don't think you will get them off without removing the spring. I'm trying to remember how I did mine. I had them out of the car, but I can't remember if I HAD to or not.
