280CE door stop check

Post by RA28GT » Sat 30 Jun, 2018 10:57 am

Hey guys,

Just had my drivers door check fail on me and leave my door stuck wide open.

I understand the coupe door checks are different than sedan and wagon. Now that the forum sponsor isn't doing parts anymore has anyone got a recommendation on a affordable aftermarket replacement? I had a search online but came out empty with a coupe replacement.

also, according to a post here the sedan's rear doors are the same as the coupe's doors ( same part number )

I didn't realise they were different front and back on a four door, nor that the coupe uses the same as the back doors... I changed them on my wagon many years ago but wasn't picky about the replacement - Either I fluked the right order or there is no practical difference.

It's an odd thing, but the coupe doors open wider at their first stopping point, as the doors are longer, to give room for the person(s) to step in/out, and the rear doors on the sedan don't have the first stopping point like the front doors on the sedan do :) So yeah, it makes sense they just shared a part :)

Finally a rarish part that we thought were coupe only ;) but can get one off a sedan :D as the rear check straps would kinda get a lot less use and may be still good on some wrecking cars.

don't mind me, had a late night and a late start today, just waking up.
