Feel free to agree/disagree!
However, I must agree about what he says about his No 1 choice, the W126 300SE!

Hi Kim,
here I disagree ... my father had - to wait for the W140 - a W126 300SE 1990/1991. Not enough motor for the car. I remember driving the car a few hundred kilometres on the Autobahn with him on the passenger seat back then. Very high revs and I remember once, I noticed my father had fallen asleep ... so on a downhill Autobahn stretch I thought, let's see how far it goes (vmax was around 200km/h). At 225km/h on the speedo, revs close to the reds, the rev limiter brutally kicked in ... guess who woke up and asked me what the fugg I was doing? :laughing6:

At least I knew vmax then ...
Regards
Thomas

Not an issue over here, 300SE's cope quite well with our 110kmh limits

Then explain to me, why there are so many guys in Oz who try to get out the last horse power of a 560 ... I always thought it's the acceleration from 0-100 over there ... and some umpf.

Same reason why people buy brand new AMG C63's, E63's and hosts of CLA AMG's when a C200, E200 or base engine CLA will suffice for the speed limits
W211 - E240
W204 - C280
Departed
W202 - C200, C180, C180
W126 - 380SE , 380SE (Ex SA Import), 560SEL
W124 - 300e, 260e (ex Japan)
W111 220s (Indonesia) 4 speed manual column shift
W123 230
W116 450SEL
W140 420SEL
W210 E240, E240
W209 CLK 240
W201 190e 2.6 (ex U.K.)

Yep, I don't have to understand everything ... if I'd move to Australia, I'd buy the smallest Diesel engine in an E-Class ...
