W140 Child Seat Anchors

Hi there!

My W140 600 SEL has just arrived off the ship from the UK and the compliance engineer says the car needs child seat anchor points installed.

Is there a W140 owner out there willing to show me where these are on their Australian delivered cars?

I'd like to avoid having the car look like it's had a run-in with a Repco store...

Thanks so much for this :)

I got in touch with Mercedes Benz Sydney at the same time, and they provided me with the image attached, which I then cross-referenced with another image showing the W140 body for context.

Notice the differences in the spacer tubes (104) in the MB Sydney image, and the triangulated mount in yours?

I wonder if this difference is down to pre- and post-facelift cars. Mine's a 1991 build, for reference.

Anyway, thanks again for your help. The discussion with the engineer is much more fruitful as a result.

part number 104 is a tube spacer for the rear roller blind - it's got nothing to do with the child safety restraint anchors.

I think you need to ask them to check their diagram and ask them how they came up with a rear blind spacer part for the child safety restraint anchor...
The pictures show the group number reference where they looked up the part number

Hope it's cheaper than a w220. Ex-pat had a 625-option (ie Aus spec but O/S delivered) w220 and I think anchor was there but buried under parcel shelf trim. Lot of trim had to come out.
