CLK500 info

Post by Shady » Fri 17 Nov, 2017 11:17 pm

Hi All, Im a new member and have purchased my 1st Mercedes car, i have owned a couple of vito vans but never a passenger car.
I had been looking for at least 12 months and was considering a cl500 or older sl500, i happened to come across this fantastic car, I thought the rag top mercedes would be noisy but after i drove it i was impressed how quiet it was. I was going to use this as my daily driver but it is too nice so it will be reserved for sunny weekends. Will continue to drive my vw caddy as a daily driver.
I have purchased parts in the past for my vans from mb spares and have recently purchased some parts for the clk.
I purchased this car without rwc and it did not need anything - took the gamble as the owner wanted $1500 more with rwc.
The only thing i noticed on the car was there was a drip of oil on the plastic that joins the head liner, as suspected the hydraulic cylinder has a slight leak when it was warm, I have replaced that with a reco one from top hydraulics.

So if anyone can provide me with some info on the following as i will be servicing the vehicle myself.

ok the car has 87000 kms

it is due for its (A) service.

the trans was serviced at 51000 (when should the next filter oil be changed) please confirm oil to be used

last engine oil change 2 years ago but at 80000 kms (what oil is recommended) its had mobil 1 or mercedes 229.5 oil. Happy to use equivalent.

plugs were done at 40000

coolant was done at 40000

any help appreciated.

regards paul

The oil should be changed every year or 15,000K's (Max) Use only Mobil 1 or equivalent 229.5. Lots of guys here use Penrite.
There should be an indicator which will come up on the instrument cluster which will tell you if the oil is corrupted before the designated intervals.
Transmission fluid and filter change every 50,000K's - use only genuine filters and 236.4 spec fluid. Change the electrical conductor plug at service.
Plugs should last 100,000k's you have 16 in that car - M113 V8
Use only MB spec coolant. Zerox G05 is supposed to be the equivalent - it's close but not exact. All MB coolant is Blue.

The M113 engine is known to be very reliable without any major issues.

Good cars. Keep it under cover and polished. It will look like new for years and years.

The car does live in a garage and will be spoilt thanks again.
