Manifold gaskets and nuts

Hi all, I am currently working on the exhaust manifold on my m110. Question is what is the correct way for the gaskets? The new ones have a ridge in them. Does this face the head or the manifold?. Also the special nuts does the attached locking "washer" face the manifold or outwards. I have both ways currently on the car.
