Sydney - W220 722.6 Adaption

Post by dankind »

Hi! Newbie seeking direction on the best place to get a factory manual correct 722.6 adaption performed.
Vehicle is a W220, S320 w/97,000km, transmission service and new conductor plate.
TCU(M) cleaned of residual oil, however some shifts still feel 'not right'.

Symptoms;
Very slight 'bump' into gear, sometimes smooth, others more harsh.

Thank you!

These are adaptive transmissions - they learn your driving technique and adapt to it.

You can do a manual reset - you can look it up on line.

Do you have the correct transmission fluid installed? Red not green.
I was speaking to a stealership mechanic last Saturday about 722.6’s.
It seems that there was a prevailing idea from M B that 722.6’s could use the latest fluid but it turns out the original spec is actually the best.
It’s also Better to buy OEM fluid and not some generic stuff.

Conductor plate OEM or Chinese knockoff?

From what i can tell online there is a factory procedure to adapt outside of the 'driver adaptive' functionality.
I have read that this is specifically required after any open surgery.

Filters, Gaskets, Bushing, Conductor plate all OEM.
Cheers - yup Fuchs Titan OEM spec 'Red', perfect operating level at 80C.

Thanks

>>Agreed, however i understand based on documentation that MB STAR can perform a factory adaption process (fairly specific) that is required after changing the conductor plate

You can do a manual reset - you can look it up on line.
