C240 W203. build date 2000. Where is the dip stick

Post by piperjon »

Hi Guys,
\My brother did buy the C230 Mercedes 2000 model with the w203.

Where is the dip to check the engine oil. Or do you buy a dip stick only to check the engine oil and cover the hole up again like the 1997 C180 auto which has a cap over the auto but you do buy a stick to check the auto trans oil. Is thisMercedes the same???????????????????

It could be like the "lifetime lubrication" system that MB implemented on their Auto Transmissions.
You don't change the oil, you change the engine.
Seriously, don't you have an owners manual? Should list the dipstick location.

Your title states a C240 W203 but in the text you mention a C230. Which is it?

(a) For a 4 cylinder.
Should be on the front of the engine on the left hand side as looking from the front. Just above the alternator.
Should have a red circular handle.

But ...some cars didn't come with a dipstick. You check the oil electrically or buy a dipstick from fleabay.
if you have the service manual - a tome - it will have the method of checking the oil level electronically. Failing that you came let goggle be your friend. Lots of youtub videos on how to do this.

(b) The dipstick on the V6 is at the rear of the engine. It's either a red or yellow coloured handle - depending on the year and engine. You can also check the oil level electronically.

The transmission oil check chute will have no dipstick - just a cover. You need to buy a dipstick from stealbay.

Later year 7 speeds have no method of checking the transmission oil from the top of the engine.

There is an oil dipstick on both my W211 M112 V6 and W204 M272 V6
