Hi I'm a new member on here,
I have a 2004 E55 AMG, the RHS front airmatic strut developed an air leak and the strut collapsed. I replaced the strut but now the car won't pump air into the new strut.
The car didn't seem to have a problem prior to this. I have had the pump out and it seems to work okay, the pump builds up that much pressure you can't hold youre finger over the air outlet. When in the car the pump runs for about 10-15sec then stops, the RHS front strut is sitting just above the tyre.
Has anyone got any suggestions on this please

Pump has a thermal protection switch. As the strut was dying the pump will run to often and cook itself if the switch is not operating correctly. I would look to find the power source for the pump and see if the power shuts off. If it is still live and the pump is lifeless, I would say you are up for a pump.
Otherwise and if you want to keep messing with the car, buy a cheapo code reader, worth its weight in gold.

The best code reader / scanner for your car for the price is the iCarsoft MB11 unit. A few hundred bucks.
You will recoup the price of the scanner as soon as a check engine light comes up.
FWIW the strusts are supposed to be replaced in pairs.
You can get OEM Arnott units from the US for a very reasonable price. The prices for these have come down considerably.
They are not difficult to change - an easy DIY. You must have the scanner to reset any codes.
There are now Chinese knockoff struts for a couple of hundred bucks - but i would steer clear of those.

Thanks for the input I do really appreciate advise.
I do have 1 query about the pump.
If i by pass the power to the air pump while it is still connected to the car, can that do anyother damage to any other parts of the suspension system.
I would like to see if by passing the power
If the thermal protection switch is faulty.
