280 SE Coupe door lock

Post by sebada » Thu 14 Jun, 2018 3:50 am

Hello everybody,

I'm looking for a 280 SE coupe door lock, it is quite different from the previous models 250 SE and 220 SE. Does anybody know if this part is shared with some other Mercedes ?. I have been looking for it on the web with no sucess.

The door lock I'm looking is the same of the one on the photo below.

Hi, it is basically the same as the W108 280S and 280SE, and also the early W114/115 range. From memory the alloy frame can be a little differant, but the basic design is the same. Maybe you can get a good used sedan one and use it to repair the coupe one? Here is a shot om my 280SE coupe.

May be worth investigating if the mechanism is the same as on a 107 SL or SLC. If not identical perhaps can be adapted?

Thanks John for the reply, I will search the door lock for that cars. I have the frame but the switch is from another car, maybe a previous coupe. I thought that all 114/115 used buttons.

Very nice car you have, guess your are proudof it !!

Sebastian

Hi eeryone,

after further research, I have found that this type of lock came on the 114 and 123 coupes car, so a I digged on ebay and found one. I bought it and now it is on its way. I also bought a 280 SE emblem for the trunk (mine is missing) and a stud dent kit for mig welders from Eastwood so I can start some bodywork.

Thank for the help.
