Front shock absorber, removal and installation

Post by einar » Sun 11 Feb, 2018 5:52 pm

I’m about to change the front shock absorber. The workshop manual refers to a compression tool to be used: “tension fixture 111 589 03 61”, see pic. I’ve not been able to find any such tool. Is this tool strictly necessary and/or is it any other solutions to compress the shock absorber for removal/installation? Any advices appreciated before I start the job. Thanks.

If they're anything like the rear you can just slowly depress them by hand. Check the new ones which will be tighter and if you can depress them by hand you got your answer.
