Interesting array of cars, looks like a paddock of old rusty cars as well.
This 220 is very unloved http://www.lloydsonline.com.au/LotDetai ... n=4&pgs=50

Hey Phil, do you know who the buyer was? Is it staying on our shores?
That seems crazy money for a sedan in that condition, even if it is a lang. I hope the engine isn't seized or rotted out.
Cheers, Drew

Drew,
Then again, from a purely selfish ($$$) point of view, the more 300SE langs which go out of the country the better for the few which remain.

Hello Ludwig,

The auction was held on the 21st October at 2pm, there were aprox. 10 to 12 cars that were not payed for, plus a lot of other items not payed for in the other auctions.
The 300SE, the 190 and the 280s were all up for to be re - auctioned.

I was the successful bidder on the 1964 - 300SE - Lang (From Data Card), not 1966 as listed in auction details. All ready had the rear bumper bar from one of the previous auctions held at the QLd Car Museum.

Regards, Harko

Good one Harko, may it live on! What is the condition of the car like? Do you think the motor will run? What are your plans for it?
Cheers, Drew

Hello Drew,

Going over the car as we speak, have found that the motor has been changed for another M189, have not tried yet to start the car, motor turns over. The Bog artists have been allowed to manipulate the car.
Before the car went into the Museum, it lived around Wandoan, Qld - Country car red dust in all the hiding spots. RHS front guard around the light is more Bog artistry -so probably a front panel replacement. There is rust in the usual places, air bags go up but front wants to stay down, i think airbags need replacing. LHR more bog artistry.
I think being a country car it had its fair share of Australian emblem road kill collection. Car has non original external sun visor ( all metal) above the front windscreen.
Finding more things as i go along. Also found the last owners details and I am contacting them to find more about the car

My plan for the car is to fix the rust, re paint the car from original color 140 (silver grey) to 172, anthracite grey, tint the windows, re do the inside to 206 blue color, re varnish all the wood, all chrome and aluminium strips brightened. re do the air suspension and any motor work if required. Has original radio still not sure if it is working.
Car is not going to be my daily ( not suitable for my work ). If i want a daily driver then i will need to look for a W111 sedan.

Hey Harko,

I was following the original sale of this car. Congrats on the buy!
I was just wondering if you intend on keeping the sun visor on the car? If not would you be interested in selling it?

Cheers!
