It's not just the Yanks

Post by Ludwig » Thu 24 Nov, 2016 4:34 am

What about those cold English or the snooty French and the mean Scots. Then there's the drunken Irish, the arrogant Dutch (sorry Bart) and the devious Asians. These humourless Germans and those Indians (calling at all hours). And don't get me started on the Icelanders, the Greeks and those Swiss (with their chocolate and cheese). The Canadians (just too polite). Of course what the New Zealanders do with sheep. Well I ask you.
Ah, but the Australian. What a fine, upstanding, sophisticated and highly intelligent mob we are. Why, oh why can't they all be like us. :dontknow:

This would be a desaster, as China would rule the world then. 8-9 billion people all running around in thongs, all produced in China ... no rather not :protest:

And there you have it - stereotypical German with no sense of humour! So if you call them thongs, what do you call those undies with just the strap at the back....... or maybe you meant 8-9 million people running around in G-strings..... perish the thought!!

Craig,

of course I have no humour, I didn't want to disappoint anyone. After long research I thought the correct Aussie term was "thong" ... maybe it's tongs? Or blister-on-your-toes-producing-look-a-like-sandal?

Really confused now
Thomas

P. S.: And it's billion. I'm a German with no sense of humour and ALWAYS correct :laughing6:

I'd argue that most Australians are fine upstanding citizens, except for that lot that have relocated to the UK. For the most part they are a bigger bunch of fuckwits than the drunken arse whingeing pommie bastards we're all sick and tired of.

Yeah, you know the one's I'm talking about... the degenerate throwbacks who can't hold their piss, carry on like arseholes.

a bit like english football fans.

I'd also argue that most Kiwi's I know are generally better mannered than most Australians. Despite the alleged sheep-rooting. I think that originated in rural victoria anyway.
Or was it South Australia? no that was an entire state thrust upon us by German immigrants ;)

And what about Sydneysiders? bunch of trucking tossers they all are.... so far up their own fundamental orifices they can sit on their own shoulders.

And the Yanks? they don't even rate a mention. There was a reason the diggers nicknamed them septics. Because they all thought their own faeces didnt stink.

But they have one over all of us..... They turfed the poms out over 300 years ago. We're still living a life of national slavery.

Just a bunch of softcocks, all of them.

cunts too. ;)

being serious for a brief moment to clear up important translations, you are absolutely correct Thomas and those things we like to wear on our feet are 'Thongs'. But the poms call them 'flip flops' - much more appropriate name i think for the sound they make. But when i worked there and referred to wearing Thongs they would get quite disturbed at the image because that describes for them - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thong_(clothing)
and you can see why! The vision of Chinese or any nationality en mass wearing either of these items for me is a vision of great humour!

Craig,
don't worry, I got it ... I'm so far "australianised", that I understand most of the Aussie-specific expressions. But Ozbenz-Members in thongs :laughing6: ... you put pics in my head.

They are called flip-flops in Germany too.
Regards
Thomas

The yanks call them flip flops as well, except for the Hawai'ians who call them slippers.

But the kiwi's call them jandals....

Speaking of Kiwis and their jandels I heard a story one time about a Mowry guy who, when everyone got pissed at a party, would steal ONE of their jandels.
The next day, when they discovered that they had "lost" one, he would tell them that he had a spare one of the same colour and would sell it to them. Of course he was too smart to sell them their own one (even NZ's could figure that out) but would sell them someone else's thong and sell theirs to another and so on.
Don't know if it's true or not but a story doesn't have to be true to be funny.
p.s. I heard that Yorkshire men are called "sheep shaggers". No true west aussie would ever do such a thing. Buffalo maybe or even a crocodile but never a sheep.
I mean, it's no fun without a fight
