These look like they were taken near the factory in Graz.

I just do not understand why these were not sold here for so long. it's shameful on MB's part. Certainly would have prevented a few land bruiser sales.

Labors luxury car tax in the 80's did that. Because the price was so high the intended market couldn't finance them ( farmers etc ) . Add to that the wool price collapse,the recession we had to have etc and there was no way they were going to sell them here. As a result Toyota and nissan got a foot hold into the market which they dominated until Jeep forced prices back down with the Cherokee.
