Post by hyjinx » Thu 16 Aug, 2018 11:54 am

Hi just did a search and didnt find the answer.

Do the aerials on w124 sedans retract all the way or do they stick out about 200mm when stereo isnt on?

When they're even older and not taken care off, they don't retract at all ... and they should have a motor :laughing6:

Try putting some oil on it; if that doesn't work, you have to dismantle it ...

Yeah ive had the electric aerials on other cars that do none of the up or the downs lol.

This one though does work and was pretty well maintained the aerial was the "sticking point" as it was remaining 2 sections up i then added some lubrication and now she is like the picture.

Oh and thanks john i missed your reply.

Retract all the way. I would use PTFE dry lubricant rather than oil, as oil will attract dirt/grit which will stick to the mechanism.
Try using a bit of (hand) pressure on the tip as it retracts, and you may find it goes all the way in.
