230CE top end noise maybe engine swap.

Hi, Just curious if anyone knows the 230CE 4 cyl well enough to offer some possibilities,
The engine seems to run well but it has a top end tappet kind of a noise, I am more used to Holden straight 6 motors.
I am wondering if they have adjustable rockers that might quieten the noise if it is that.
Other option is are there any 6 cylinders that go in without any trouble or a V8 maybe.
I do expect the V8 idea to be full of issues and most likely enough to put me off unless there is one
that will drop in with minimal modifications apart from of coarse mounts, trans, radiator and drive shaft etc.

Oh this is a vehicle I am wanting to buy for restoration. Just trying to get a better idea of what I am in for.
