What is Tempmatik?

Post by astroe » Thu 02 Aug, 2018 1:16 am

Hi all,

Does anyone know what Tempmatik is?
I recall there are two types of HVAC for the W124, the one with the dual zone climate control and the other one.

Dual zone climate control:

"Other one":

In my search for the correct fan blower motor, I am presented with two options:
- ONLY USED WITH HEATING AUTOMATICS AND WITH TEMPMATIK
- ONLY USED WITH AUTOMATIC AIR CONDITIONER

Thank you in advance!

Hi,
as far as I know, the upper one is the "normal" aircon ("Klimaanlage"), which is the tempmatic. The lower one is the automatic aircon ("Klimaautomatik"). The upper one is the easier one and to be preferred (no electronics); it's always on an can be switched off by pressing the "EC" button. Always problems with the lower one ...

Regards
Thomas

No electronics?

The tempmatic operation panel is a self contained module with a micro-controller, I wouldn't consider that no electronics. Unless you are referring to the manual fan and air distribution controls.

Of course you're right; electronics is in there. I referred to the "big" controller unit of the automatic aircon that causes quite often problems these days. Once that is down the drain, more or less nothing is working. With the other unit - afaik - at least you can operate the fan and the heating (wheels etc.)
