Remove the rear centre AC vent

Hello,

How does one remove the centre AC vent at the rear of the centre console in a 1998 E280 W210? I have googled, and only seem to find instruction on removing the front AC vents. The swinging rod has broken on both sides and they swing around and are just useless. Rather than glue them stationery I would like to either attempt to repair, or simply replace.

Any help would be appreciated as I don't have a workshop manual and wouldn't think interior stuff would be in one anyway - but I'm probably wrong!
