This is the W123 sub forum, or did someone move the topic?? Anything is possible, but you may be surprised just how much it will cost to fit a differant compressor. You will need a differant bracket, differant hoses, differant electrical connections and you have to find a compressor that uses the same style of drive belt. . If you can fabricate all of these yourself then yes it will be cheaper, but if you have to pay by the hour for any of these parts then I would suggest it is false economy. There certainly is no "off the shelve" conversion kit.

You can fit a sanden compressor with a kit but their pretty pricey - Between US$329.95 to $579.95. ... grade-kit/

Are the Sanden compressor that much better ?

I have a AC compressor from a 230E in my spare parts pile. It's untested bought from wreckers. applied 12v to it to see if clutch engages and it does nicely :)

My mate put a sandan knockoff in his '67 Fairlane and its still going well 3 years one and my other friend put one in his '82 W126 and happy as. cost of the compressor was about $150 then needed hoses made up as his W126 had a york originally.
