Hi Team,
I've put a reco head and gasket onto Jurgen's block.
Is there a 'bedding down' period where I should let things settle before doing a compression test to see whether it's worth sticking back into Jurgen?
Thanks

As long as you have the Head bolts torqued correctly ,engine in Time, and the Valves adjusted properly you can spin it over anytime .

Things would have to be spectacularly wrong to have compression issues with a new gasket. So long as both surfaces were clean and straight and it is torqued down correctly it should be fine. This is not a check that I would do, just get on with starting it and have it back on the road in time to bring to the OZBENZ Meet

I agree Mr. Green however,
I Don't know why he pulled the Engine to put on a Head gasket in the first place BUT IF one has any doubts of their expertise in Head gasket /Head Replacement then Now WOULD be a good time to do Preliminary checks such as Compression Test, OIL Pressure Test,Oil Leaks ,etc before installing back in the Bay.

Thanks, gents.
The way everything else has gone on this little project, caution (and the preservation of my sanity) would suggest that a compression test would be a good idea.
Do I need to do anything beyond hook up the oil cooler lines to and from the oil filter, fill with the right amount of oil and apply 12V to the starter? Is there earthing I need to pay attention to?
Thanks again.

Oh, it's worth pointing out that this is a replacement block - Jurgen's orginal had a bit of piston slap, the IP was marginal and the main chain tensioner rail had broken in two, so I thought I may as well use the spare that looked a better bet.
