ACT Concours this weekend sept 28

Post by AMG » Thu 25 Sep, 2008 3:15 pm

Ladies & Gentlemen,

MBACT Concours and Display day is this weekend.
The Mercedes-Benz Club of the ACT is to hold its annual Concours d’Elegance on Sunday 28th September 2008 on the grassed area known as Rond Terraces, which has become our standard location for the past several years. As has been previously, the Concours will be part of Shannons’ German Autofest which this year will feature a display of Rare Marques in addition to the other German marque clubs.

For something a little different this year, the pre-Concours function on the evening of Saturday 27th will be a cocktail party to be held at the premises of the local Mercedes-Benz dealer, Capital Star Motors.

The ACT club would like to invite members of affiliated Mercedes-Benz Clubs to come and enjoy our hospitality and participate in the competition. Please ensure that you read the rules and conditions of entry for this year’s event as there may be changes to the previous ones you have grown accustomed to.

The Rules and Conditions of Entry will be published early in August on this website, along with the necessary Registration forms.

Would love to go, even if i drove modern, but unfortunately i can't afford it and i'm not a member of any MB clubs. But there is always next year.

Hope to see lots and lots of photos. Particularly of the winners in all the classes. NSW club forum has list of winners, but no pictures.

Hi Brad,

I'm fairly sure you don't need to be an MB club member to simply drive your car in and display it (someone like John will probably correct me if I'm wrong). MB club membership is generally only required for those who want their cars judged in the concours competition. It would be great if you could drive your finny down to Canberra for the day. It's not too far from Cowra (quite a few drive down from Sydney just for the day). I remember your car from the FoSC weekend at Bathurst earlier in the year and just what a tidy car it was. I'm sure there will be plenty at the day in Canberra who would love to see it.

I have got my unregistered vehicle permit organised for my left-hooker 500SLC so I'm looking forward to the drive and the display which is always worthwhile. For those with interests extending beyond MBs there are all the other German marques in attendance. For those who find their interest doesn't extend to a whole day looking at cars there is Floriade virtually next door plus plenty of parkland around the lake to explore.

The cars look great, congrats to all the winners.

Wish i could have made it, definately next year. Might try to convince the rest of the Mercs in the club to join in.

If i'd realised Queenbeyan swap was also on the same day, i would have come, besides the fuel cost ($1.80L here) i didn't want to drive that distance by myself. Dad would have followed, gone to the swap, did some shopping and followed me home when finished. My poor car hasn't been that far in 20 years!

A few really nice machines there - my favorite was definitely the orange W123 280CE.

The outright champion was excellent - the woodwork I thought was of particularly high standard.

Next year that black 300GD in the photos on the MB Spares 'site will be parked on the grass.

PS: You do need to be a financial member of a recognized Mercedes-Benz club to enter.
