My W140 had been briefly owned since new by a Knight of the Realm - Queensland based.

While doing the Chauffeuring work back in the late '80's, early '90's many famous bums sat in the seats of my various cars. Including royalty and heads of states or country owners.

Most fascinating celebrity : Colleen McCullough author.
Most awkward comment : Cyndy Lauper - singer.
Why do you Ozzies talk funny
She had the broadest New York accent you have ever heard. (plus did have the best skin - porcelain)
Guaranteed to keep you laughing : Ernie Sigly - particularly if he was with Ding Dong. Ernie Sigly is "on" 24/7
Worst celebrities : Female Australian Soap personalities. - I took one now famous "actress" to a Neighbours Saturday afternoon promotional gig. She was upset on the way back because Bouncer the dog got more attention than she did.
Lots of other stories.

My 1985 190E 2.3-16 Cosworth was purchased new by the 1980 (and Australia's last) Formula 1 World Champion, Alan Jones. He purchased the car after competing in the 1984 race of current and past F1 drivers at the Nürburgring, all driving 190E 2.3-16 Cosworths. Alan Jones was a DNF (due to a mechanical issue) and the race was won by Ayrton Senna (who also subsequently purchased a new 190E 2.3-16 to use as a road car) and second place went to Niki Lauda. The car driven by Lauda in that race is currently being offered for sale (see https://www.autoclassics.com/posts/news ... cedes-190e which also has full race results and links to videos of the race). Another video discussing Senna's car can be seen at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=664k0onPaVY and an article about the road car purchased by Senna (which is now also in Australia) can be seen at https://www.drive.com.au/motor-reviews/ ... 321-gno0a0 (if anyone knows the owner of that car, I would like to get in contact). Here is a photo of my (ex Alan Jones) car:

The reason I asked this question, was due to a simple auto transmission sump plug I ordered from my local Mercedes stealership a few weeks ago.

The service Manager asked for the VIN number and he told me that the person that first owned my W210 was Vince Sorrenti.

I emailed Vince (Comedian), and he replied. He said he purchased the vehicle brand new for $165,000.00 back 1999. He had it up until 2014. !!

How funny is that!!

Slightly off topic but still on topic......

My old friend Clint Eastwood, whom I've never met, except via the silver screen, shares my love of the big W126 coupes.

Here he is filling up his white 500SEC at the local gas station in Carmel. Two local lads were gobsmacked when he pulled in next to them!
