You can run but you can't hide.

Mate calls me from his wife's phone - tells me he has lost his iPhone.
Had it in the morning at the office but now lost.
Frantic - not because of the phone but the numbers and info inside. _(obviously not backed up to iClown).

Called his daughter - In East Malaysia.
She had activated "Find my iPhone"

She looked it up and traced it on maps from East Malaysia.
Told mate to go to a specific address.
Off he went, arrived at the address -couldn't see anything or anybody.
He rang daughter again in Malaysia with his wife's phone.
Daughter activated a loud trace tone on the phone itself.
Mate heard the sound looked around and discovered his phone was in a dumpmaster. A dumpmaster which was locked with a padlock.
Mate acquired a hammer, dispatched the padlock, rummaged around the dumpmaster and found his phone.

So now the questions.
What idiot threw his phone in the dumpmaster. Inquiries revealed a "cleaner" had picked it up and thrown it in the rubbish which was then collected and put in the dumpmaster. The cleaner was from a contract company who uses what type of employee?

Some one from East Malaysia is able to track down a specific phone to a specific point in Australia.
The same person was able to track the other phone(Mates wife) at the same time and tell him to turn left, right, go straight ahead etc.
Shades of The Bourne movies.

With the release of that shady Vault 7 info from Wikileaks last week. Who needs the CIA? Anybody can track you down - if they know how.

Well Ivanerol,
that's why I'm a big fan of cash. They don't know who I am, what I buy and where I am. Sometimes at the supermarket here, when they ask me about whatever loyalty card, I hand over cash and tell the lady "You don't know who I am, you can't trace what I buy, you don't get my postcode and I'm paying cash. Highly suspicious" :laughing6: ... the looks are priceless.

Thomas ... without an iphone.
P. S.: I still have an Apple II and an Apple Newton. Those were the times, when those companies still paid taxes in the countries they sell. Apple pays 50 Euros tax for every MILLION Euro Profit in Europe. Same applies for google, starbucks, facebook, amazon etc etc. I just boycot them wherever I can.

Had a cross continent event recently, although not high tec like that. Because we live in a high bushfire area we have a 'phone tree' to warn neighbours of a fire. Last weekend i was driving to Port Pirie, some 300km from home and didn't hear my phone which was a neighbour warning me of a nearby fire. I did hear an sms though from a neighbour who happened to be in the US and had a message from a friend on the road where the fire was - he then contacted all the people on our road. The call when i checked the voicemail was to let me know about that same sms they had. Another neighbour was in Sydney and messaged for someone to do something for him in preparation. So help is to be had from all corners of the world!

Another big fan of cash here.

In fact I just went down to the ATM to get some out - I'm going to pick up a car tomorrow.

Mind you there are many who have no available cash and survive on their credit cards.

Then, Unfortunately worldwide governments have taken up the "War on Cash"

If you use cash then you allegedly are :

(a) A criminal
(b) Drug dealer or smuggler
(c) Tax evader.
(d) Black marketeer
(e) General ne'er do well

Many governments are withdrawing high denomination notes from circulation declaring they are only used by the above 5 classes of individuals.

Our own Australian federal government last week declared that they are considering withdrawing the 100 dollar note from circulation because of the use thereof by the 5 classes of above individuals.

Mind you I need to go to the ATM on two different days because of the daily limit on drawing enough cash out.

Last time I bought a used bicycle, I went to pick it up with cash - it was $62.00 - I had $65.00. Seller didn't have any cash change in the house. He explained he was an academic and was against cash in the general society. :bs:

It's surprising how many people are giving up their smart phone, going back to dumb arse flip phones and using an iPad or notebook for internet.

No, he was an academic and was opposed to anyone getting between himself and a dollar.

Ahh you fall into the category of people who amaze me from great websites Fleabay and Ummmtree, who often arrive on my door step and expect me to have $$ change...sorry I've sort of misplaced my cash register... :naughty:
