Interesting that they put a more modern fan belt and tensioner set up on it, but still used old cross ply tyres? Unless those are radials disguised as cross ply's?

I have a confession to make fellow Ozbenzers, my first two cars were not Mercs, but Beetles. A 1961 Bug and a brand new Arctic White 1973 1600 VWL Superbug, the first with the curved windscreen. Both were great fun.

A couple of months ago I nearly had my third. There was a 1974 Superbug, identical to mine except for the year model, parked at my Indy mechanic's workshop for months. It ran out of rego and the owner didn't want it, so she said I could have it!

I was on the verge of taking it, but chickened out at the last moment due to the amount of rust in it.

However, a nice lady brought her 1974 Bug in for a service recently at my Indys workshop. It was a one owner (her father's), but she said that I would have to "kill her" before she would sell it.

So I have been having evil thoughts ever since! :laughing6:

Cheers,
Mr Bugman

Kim,
alternatively marry her :laughing6: :laughing6: ... or is the car more attractive than her?
