There are a load of OM606x swaps around.
G-wagens are flavour of the month here in OZ, but also there's a 116 280S that JG is doing at the moment.

They are common replacement engine for series Land Rovers / defenders and RRC's in the UK. I've often thought about ditching the 3.9 BendOver v8 in mine and going for the superior reliability of Axis Power. :nono: :occasion5:

heh. Ol' Blighty sure made some rusty junk, but there are some redeeming qualities. :liar: Like err... ummm.. now I'm stuck for words :laughing6:

Hahahaaaaa.

Tradition, yes!

- in the tradition of 'failing to proceed' :laughing5:

instead of the less politically correct but more appropriate SNAFU ?
:laughing6:

I do like the comfortable ride of the Rangie. It's almost Mercedes w123 , but with a bit more body roll.

the 4 speed ZF 4hp22 automatic is very smooth and efficient. The Bw35 transfer case is smooth and quiet and the viscous centre diff is great.

The 3.9 v8 is a bucket of bolts, and the one in mine is a good one. Yet I'm comitted to re-powering it, as it's a gutless waste of fuel... Whether thats replaced with the M117 220kW 560 v8 & 722.3 I have gathering dust, or an OM606a and 722.6, I'm sure the bendover v8 will be destined to live it's life as a boat anchor.

Yep, should have bought a 300GD w460. Not as comfortable though.

I would drop a om606 or 605 into the w123 at the drop of a hat if they were cheap enough brilliant engines

The 606 engines are cheap enough, but the IP isnt easy to find... need one from a 603a to make life easy.

some pretty compelling viewing there from Diesel Pump UK

AU$1,400 or so for one of their turbo manifolds

add in the 500hp turbo kit for another AU$1,000

then add another AU$2,600 for a high flow injector pump

You could build a bolt-on diesel rocket for under $10K including car.....transmission explosions notwithstanding

damn the AU-GBP exchange rate....
