Transmission hanging on..

Post by Don » Mon 27 Aug, 2018 4:02 pm

I think I know the answer but anyways.. Wife's 2000 model W202 Kompressor is nudging 300k and the trans is starting to hang on to first for about 100 metres when cold, thereafter it's fine. The car has impeccable service history including for the trans. Is this a sign it's on the way out?

Get the codes checked, could be the electrical plate. If it was worn out more likely to slip when hot, not cold.

Has it had the transmission fluid and connector plug seal replaced every 80,000K's?

Might be the cold weather Don.
My W210 sometimes did that in the cold weather.

722.6's are supposed to late change when cold - but not too much of a delay.

Thanks Les, I hang on a bit too when it's cold..

Will see what it's like when the weather warms up.
