Error code 530A00

Post by nicholas128 » Fri 29 Jun, 2018 7:56 pm

I am getting an error code from my code reader (the only error I get across all systems) which says:

Component M68/1 (Right front reversible emergency tensioning retractor
motor) is blocked

Does anyone know what this means?

Thanks you!

Does your car have seat belt retractors?

If your code reader can also clear codes, then do so. If it returns then you have a problem. Unless you have owned this car from new and know its history exactly, then you have no idea if this event happened yesterday or three years ago.
Inaugural OZBENZ national meet this September, all welcome to attend.

Tony - yes, my car has the seat belt retractors. I suspected that the code might be referring to those.
John - yes, I have cleared this code using the code reader, and after driving around tomorrow I will re-check and see if it returns.

Thanks to both of you for your assistance.

My mates W204 wagon was recently sideswiped.
Mate is away overseas so I need to go and pick it up after the repairs have been done.
Panel shop called me and told me it was ready for pickup. Both side doors have been replaced. I insisted I would check the car for fault codes. The repairer insisted he had cleared every thing with his $1500 scanner.
I went and plugged my $200.00 Icarsoft specialized MB scanner in. The was a fault code list as long as your arm. Your mans eyes opened up with surprise.
Fault codes for tensioners, airbag faults, sensor short circuits etc, etc, etc.

I told him to go and take the car to a Mercedes specialist with a Star diagnostic computer. My little scanner would not clear airbag DTC's.

So, It could have been that your car had some issue with a tensioner sometime and the repairer may have had a scanner that couldn't read or reset stored unique MB fault codes

The code does clear using my iCarsoft MB scanner. However, after I drive the car, the error code re-appears on scanning. When driving the car I get no warning lights or messages of any kind on the dash, and the retractor seems to work as normal, tensioning the seatbelt when I put it on, just like it always does. Given I can clear the code I think its unlikely to be an old one that someone didn't clear (unless the iCarsoft scanner incorrectly reports the error code status after clearing). So unless the iCarsoft MB reader is giving me false data, there must be something going on with this tensioning unit. I'm taking the car in for a service soon, so I might ask them to check it using their STAR system.
