Oil Leak & Sluggish Start

Post by digga »

I'm not sure if the 2 are related but I have a w203 c200 that starts really bad when its cold and it is also leaking a greenish/brown oil from the engine area.

Any clues before I take it to my mechanic?

I had bad start problem recently.
Replacement of the fuel regulators sorted it for my 202.

re: the leak, can you see any trickles trails leading from anywhere?
greenish brown usually means coolant, so poke your head around the radiator, check hoses, etc.

My mechanic has looked at my car and told me there is actually 3 oil leaks but couldn't tell me why the car starts sluggish other than it having done 100,000km.

Here is the 3 oil leaks and approximate costs to fix.

Cam magnet - $150
Vacuum pump - $700
Transmission - $1100

It would be grear to know if these are fair prices to fix.

Cam is about right.
Vacuum pump.... sorry, wouldn't know.

Where is the trans leak? That price is verdging a very hefty price near a rebuild in my opinion... It's practically a replacement gearbox for my car.

Can't diagnose the hard start?

Ummm, get a second opinion. This a Merc indi?

Thanks for your help. I think I'll take it to another mechanic for a second opinion.
