Ahh, judging those cars and the surrounding houses, looks like your ol' man is lucky enough to live in 'The Golden Mile' (between St.Kilda Street and the beach) ???

Not quite, we did go down there today, that's S Class territory. He's between Bay & Church St of St Andrews.

Walked down Hampton St on the way to visit my half sister yesterday.

A plethora of MB's again. Too many to photo really but here's a few.

The C107 was in Linacre Rd. and cobweb encrusted. My wife remarked I should knock on the owners door and suggest they sell it. I refrained, for the time being.

I was surveying some roads today for a club run. On a fairly isolated (for the Sydney region) road, I rounded a bend and was confronted with this sight. The marks of the bootlid where the model badge has been appeared to read 280SEL (I didn't lift the bonnet to check). It doesn't appear to have there all that long and not much appears to have been removed. It has been long enough though for vandals to smash windows and put what appear to be a few large bullet holes into it.

What is also sad is that there are parts there that enthusiasts could make good use of but will most likely end up going to scrap assuming a firebug doesn't get to it first.

As were most interior parts. Even the steering wheel horn pad (missing from the wheel) was on the floor in the back. There were also what appear to be fitted rubber floor mats. I didn't see what was in the boot or under the bonnet. I didn't spend much time looking at it (just enough to snap those photos) but it was interesting to note that those holes which appeared to be large bullet holes hadn't penetrated through to the inside of the car. It seems to be the wrong colour for a gangster special with bullet-proof panels. Maybe just as well I didn't look in the boot!

Two new G-wagon twin-cab/ chassis 6 wheel drives in army camouflage, on the back of a trailer truck entering the Monash Fwy from Ferntree Gully Rd, city-bound.

Guess they're the replacement for project Perenti (Land Rovers) under Daimler Benz's army contract.

Looked good too.

You know what...

I haven't seen ANYTHING decent on the road in the last month. Seriously!

just a few really average tired looking 202's and 203's 210 crudbuckets and one sahara yellow 123 with a busted front valance parked up by it's owner, which hasn't moved (all they need is 2 panel screws to fix it up)

Someone bring something halfway decent down this way. Everyone's hiding in the garage.

Life's boring.

Life's Boring! C'mon Joe....time to get another W126 and do a "Carl". :laughing6:

Dictionary definition of a "Carl":
A "Carl" is a person who devotes incredible amounts of blood, sweat and tears to the restoration of a classic car. This type of person can be easily identified by being covered in dust, with fingers worn to the bone and dark circles under the eyes from working into the wee hours disassembling, cleaning, polishing and reassembling car parts.
They can also be spotted by their trademark insignia......wearing Gucci loafers sans socks and smelling of equal parts of car polish and Leatherique!

My W108 spends a lot of time in that car park. It is only 200 metres (as the crow flies) from the house, and if I go upstairs I can often hear "Assistance wanted in plumbing supplies" come over the PA.

I must keep my eyes open for it as I unfortunately have to visit Bunnings (no decent hardware stores left in close proximity) on a regular basis

Greg in Oz wrote:I was surveying some roads today for a club run.
Just one week later and I drove that same road again today (route charting the club run). It appears that various parts were of value to someone passing by. Looking through a headlight opening I also noticed it is actually a V8. Looking more closely at the dirty marks on the bootlid where the badge was reveals it is a 380SEL, not 280SEL as I first thought.

A beautiful W111 250SE white coupe (BNZ 067) on Belconnen way. Both of us pulled away from the lights slowly (I wasn't going to bother racing something with 2 litres less than me :snooty: ).

I can see why they cost so much more than a W108.

A new Unimog with WA plates - REAL 4WD.
The mog sat so high at the traffic lights that it looked like one of those xxl monster trucks.

What looked to be this 280SE chopped coupe in crowsnest on Friday. Nice sunny afternoon with the top down and whilst not an original cab it did look in very good condition.

Looks like a nice car. I have never seen one of these on the road. Perhaps they are a bit too special to uncage.

I drove one in Darwin in 2008. Did not realize it was an Adenauer...

I met a guy through the MVEC who told me a recently widowed lady told him to sell a white 220S Roundie convertible, and a black 300 like this one.

Beautiful car, had a clunk in the rear axle when shifting. Must have been the central mount above the diff.

Wonder what happened to both cars...

I would love to own one as I have seen a few at club eventsI and fell in love. There is a very nice restored one in my suburb it's a nice ivory white owned an MBNSW member and I see him around occasionally getting fuel etc before club runs. Boy it certainly gets plenty of looks.
I was in a cab and just caught a glimpse as we flashed by so when he dropped me off at the centre it was certainly worth the 300m walk back up the street to have a look. It was very nice and very original paint and interior.

Two W126 coupes!

Post by KimB » Sat 18 Jul, 2015 3:58 pm

Not one but two W126 saloon coupes travelling east along Mona Vale Rd near St Ives, this morning. :wav:

First one was a champagne colour....very original looking.
Second was signal red, again original looking.
Couldn't catch which models they were as they were heading in the opposite direction.
They weren't traveling together but were about 3 mins apart.
