Hi John,
imho just BS. In November 1993 it would have been an E320 not an 320CE. The successor of the 300CE-24 was the only car at the time with the 5-speed auot-gearbox, before other models got it. Even the colour was available then. At least what I remember ...

Would anyone in their right mind have ordered a red car with a red leather interior?

Having money does not mean having good taste....

Bad taste should be a crime - but if it was, half the world’s population would be in prison.

There was a time you could virtually custom order your Mercedes - as long as the options were available and would pass engineering. There were many “one offs” in various countries and for various customers.
It’s probably a fact that there no Grosser Mercedes exactly built the same.
Then there was independent AMG and Brabus.

Back in the seventies when the import duty laws were different. MBA ran a program where you could custom order your car in Australia or in Germany, after manufacture pick the car up at the factory, run it for a year in Europe or the UK and then bring it back to Australia for a substantial import tax saving. I would suggest no two cars built this way were the same.

Even my E9 BMW 3.0si was a one off - it had a vinyl roof.

I met a man on Sunday who owns a W209 CLK500 Brabus.
I bought a suspension part from him - it was OEM MB. It didn’t fit his Brabus - has a unique sysension set up.
His front bumper is damaged - a new one from Brabus is 5 figures$$. He is going to install an AMG one instead.

This simply does not ring true. It was imported:
" by the original owner, while she cared for her ailing sister. "

Everyone knows that Mercedes owners are far too busy looking after their cars to have the time or the patience to look after siblings, ailing or otherwise - what a dodgy story.

I agree! That "whorehouse special" is a very acquired taste... :laughing6:

Yep, mine f.i. :laughing6: ... 5-6 years ago, there was a W126 560SEC here on the market. pajettred (burgundy) with the same colour Velours (!) and all panels, carpets too. That was special. A brothel wouldn't be so cosy ... I was very tempted back then ...

But from factory this car had black cloth interior. :laughing6:
But AMG styling package / AMG wheels were also installed from factory and make this car quite rare. It was sold new in Switzerland.
