It was mentioned in the other consolidated 126 thread, but since KimB couldn't bring himself to acknowledge the awful truth, I've put it here as a reminder that 126's are just as much candidates for atrocities against motor vehicles as any other model.

The buyer may want to get a termite inspection prior to purchase.

When you view the whole car, rear wheel arches wouldn't serve much purpose.

Tips,
Should that be "bumpers"? rather than "numbers"

Took my wife to Tulla airport yesterday to shuttle her off to Noosa.
While in the departure lounge the woman sitting next to the wife got very chatty.

Her and the husband were off to Maroochydore to pickup a car that had bought on line - sight unseen.
A 2004 C32 AMG.
"Had a PPI done?" I inquired
"No, but I'll take it for a test drive and if seems O.K. I'll pay for it and we will start to drive straight back to Melbourne" said the husband.

Mate has had enough of his 2012 W212 E220 CDi.
Tomorrow it's off to the stealership to have parts of the transmission changed (Parts changed under warranty).
This is the fifth time it's broken down and left him stranded in 18 months.

He only just got his 2012 C220 CDi back from a injector problem (all changed under warranty).

The transmission was indicating overheat on the command screen. The stealership service department kept saying there was nothing wrong - only a software error.
Three times it was reset until finally the car stopped in the middle of a busy road.

The car will be going for a RWC on Wednesday and be sold on Thursday.

I'll be going down to the main stealership in South Melbourne on Friday with him. He want's to buy a new car .................a diesel. I told him he doesn't do enough K's to justify a diesel but he is adamant :tard:

He is one of those guys who drives 4K's in the morning and then lifts the bonnet to cool the engine down. A couple of hours later drives the 4K's back home and lifts the bonnet up.
He does the same journey three times a day.
Trying to tell him lifting the bonnet and cooling the engine - particularly a diesel is pointless. In fact would be doing more harm than good. :banghead:

A diesel - he doesn't need a diesel. If he is only doing trips of 4km he should get a bicycle. Much cheaper, and if he is worried about overheating he can take a cold shower. With the money he will save he can buy a classic Benz.

That's interesting he's had so much trouble with his car. I've purchased new MBs since 2005 and have found stealership service very good and later in the cars life equally good with the Indy. All the time absolutely no problems with the vehicles.
10 Kay's per day with any car is really asking for some long term trouble.
I have a 2013 204 diesel at the moment and it is a very good car - a substantially better one than the 203.

I'm not surprised that hasn't sold. It was discussed here a good while back. Looks even worse than what I remember. Perhaps the appearance is trying to compensate for the awesome power of that carby-fed 2 litre.

Time to be talking to MB head office and the MTA and invoking right to refund - lemon law (technically we do not have that exact law but it can be enforced where it is proven that the car is clearly not delivering the expected servicability)

I'd get a neutral expert to assess the car and then threaten with court. I did that with Mercedes in 2007 when we bought a W203 C280 from the last production week. It drifted to the right. Mercedes said, that's state of the art.

I thought by myself: Can I just not drive a car properly or is there something wrong? I invested 500 Euros in an expertise from an independant expert who confirmed that this car is not "Stand der Technik" (state of the art). I had this paper handed in to Mercedes by my lawyer and it didn't even take a week until they took my car back, refunded the cost, I had to pay 0,5% per 1.000kms driven and - because it was a company car - they had to pay 5% interest per year on the sales price. All in all I nearly ended up driving that car "for free" for 11 months :laughing6:

Later I found out (one guy working in Sindelfingen participated in one of my tours), that it was a know problem with the W203, but because the average age of the buyers was so old, hardly anyone notices.

No, that was only true in Germany from 1933-45. The W203 was well behind the times.

W203 - a model best forgotten by Mercedes Benz. W210 and W220 were also allegedly lamentable.

Actually he has already sold the car. These latest problems have cropped up only in the last few days

Another problem I forgot to mention.
Mate's iPhone is paired to the Command. Normally it works O.K. Today it was Donald Duck - another thing that happened to be rectified at the stealership along with the ASR problem this morning.

But as in the Hobbitt. - The road goes on and on.This afternoon he took it for a RWC to arrange the changeover to the new owner.
Yesterday he took the car to a RWC accredited mechanic to book the car in. Quoted Cost - $175.00
Today after the inspection and report - cost $220.00
"W.T.F." said my mate. :angry4:
"It's a Mercedes mate" said the mechanic :bs:
"But yesterday you quoted me $175.00" said my mate :argue:
"Not me!" said the mechanic :dontknow:
"Yes You! You saw the car and quoted me $175.00 to my face" said my mate. :director:

Whereupon the situation deteriorated from there.

Mate paid $175.00 - his last comment - "Bok Gwai Lo" :cussing:

Actually I fell a little sorry for the new owner.

People who place/drop tex screws on the road should be publicly flogged and then shot. Then placed upright again and then reshot. :boxing:

Post the pics upside down and ask a silly price for a crappy old 108 with a crap engine swap and you have a guaranteed sale fail.

Yes, a fail front and rear.
People should at least wait until Paul Bracq goes to a better world before vandalising his creations in this way.
A rear spoiler and a tow-bar? As Alan Jones said the other day, " Give me a break."

When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best....They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with us. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people
[Donald Trump]

He was almost right. To get full marks he needed to say
"They're bringing Mercedes."
