Ponton instrument cluster

Post by carina » Mon 05 Oct, 2015 10:09 am

I've rewired the tail lights and hooked up the reversing lights, (very pleased with myself, you know the feeling) so now I would like to tackle the instrument cluster. I have only the speedo and oil pressure gauges working. I've removed and dismantled and cleaned the fuel sender but nothing happening up front. Going in from the fire wall ( cardboard paneling and insulation removed for access) and I can see the two springs holding the cluster and the speedo cable. Is there any tricks to removal? My dash has been restored by the PO and is mind numbingly beautiful so I'm apprehensive .

yes, take your time and be ultra careful about the oil pressure line and temp gauge capillary.

You will also need to disconnect the large electrical connection. It is screwed together. Once all disconnected, push it out from the back. DO NOT lever it from the front.

I will look out for that electrical connection.
