Doors will not close shut

Post by Cream 280SE »

Hello all

Please help!! Two of my doors will not close shut! The drivers side and the rear passenger on my vehicle.

I have been able to click the lock mechanism around and then it does not close shut! It is as if there is something not allowing the lock to work correctly.

Anyone else had this issue?

Thanks

Darren

If the door will not shut (closing sounds like the door hit metal) after the roller-like device in the door latch was moved, then that roller should be moved around.
Pull the door opener and that mechanism will then be free to move around. This information is recalled from very long-term memory as I also did this long ago.

Yes if the door is open and you pull the handle (inside or out) then that lock you rotated should release and open. They can get stiff though and might need a little help with a screwdriver or even pull off and lubricate lock.

Maybe the plastic bit broke on the striker mounted on the pillar, that has happened on my W123 is W116 similar? If so then replace striker.

Are these still available? Are they the same for Front, Rear, Left and Right?
What are they worth? What do they cost? (LOL)

That's ridiculous - similar aftermarket item for landrover defender, but good quality and work because i bought some - $15. I know thats different quantities etc etc, but even from dealer in the past there was some logic with pricing - now it seems to be 'pick a number' and then they must roll around on the ground laughing about how ridiculous it is!

I had this quote of 180.00 + GST from Silver Star Spares at Kingsgrove. They are quite reasonable regarding their prices.

I would hate to think what a Mercedes Benz stealership would charge!
