Who can punch the chassis number back in?

Post by berntd »

I tried Tynan motors. Nope.
I tried Mercedes Sydney. They had no clue and after going via financial services to bookings to being cut off. I gave up.
It should not be that hard.

It says in the book that I need a numbering punch guide pn 107 589 63 00
Has anyone seen this and what does it look like?
Or else, who can do it like original with the star in front and behind?

To avoid confusion, it is the VIN as punchrd into the radiator supporrt on the earlier 107. I have a new support without number.

Regards

You could do it yourself with a set of these, but finding the star might be a bit harder.

Yes, I reckon that is where I am at.
It is just too hard to stuff around with external companies.
I reckon I an make the star tool reasonably easily. It has to work only a few times.

Stamping a W107 is tricky as you need to support the panel very carefully to avoid it bending when you stamp in the number. Ideally it is done before being welded onto the car.

I 'll have to manage.

I am more worried about the spacing straightness and font.

Cheers
