A few jobs done

Post by Willunga » Sun 23 Nov, 2014 7:38 pm

Well, it's been a good weekend. Oil and fuel filters done. Old oil was in good nick but of course I got covered in fuel doing the fuel filter. Will remember to clamp the hose next time! Points cleaned + rotor etc. Turned the idle down a bit. The 350sl was running a bit fast. The air filter was very clean. I had a good search for rust and think I've found it all-I think. Most can be handled easily but some will involve a little cutting and welding. Time to brush up on the MIG skills. I'm going to do the boot well next week with KBS rust seal. I'll post the photos. Wasn't game to start with a wire brush with fuel everywhere! I fixed the door lock which wasn't locking. I'm slowly discovering where the vacuum lines are off and stopping the system working. When I took the door skin off, the 3 lines-red, yellow and clear have come away from the actuator. I'm still waiting for the manual. Any ideas on the connections from top to bottom? I took the blower out and have given it a good clean. There is a bit of rust in the box but I can deal with this easily. Any ideas why the vacuum switch for the heater stays on? May be to do with some lines being disconnected.
Anyway, next weekend I will be putting in new plugs and leads. I was going to order Spark Plug - Bosch W-7-DSR and new leads. Any thoughts on the spark plug situation and leads???? Guess the sponsor can sort me but was after thoughts. Cheers

PLugs non-resistor. w7DC - w9DC range or NGK BP6ES

Leads - Beru. OE. Not exactly cheap - will last a very very long time.

Do yourself a favour and buy a pair of plug pliers. That will stop damage to the insulator caps.
