Can someone help me find this part?

Post by Teije » Mon 12 May, 2014 9:53 am

Dear Ozbenz members,

I am in the process of rebuilding the top end of my M116 engine. The heads were to corroded to be re-used so the machine shop managed to get 2 other heads which were reconditioned and which I have now built back in the car. Unfortunately there is one thing they forgot to transfer from the old head to the new and that is a connection on the backside of the passenger-side cyl head: I think it is an oil temp feeder line but not 100% sure. They chucked the old heads so I can now try to find this part myself, sigh... This connection is a male-male threaded tube 8 x 10 mm. I custom made a connector which should work fine (see picture), but for peace of mind I prefer to have the original part. Does anyone know the part number? Would this still be available at a Mercedes stealership or do you have another suggestion?
Help very much appreciated, thanks
Teije
This is what the part should look like

This is the line it hooks up to:

Which iteration of the M116 is it? 350 D-Jet? 350 K-Jet? 380? 420?

Put your year and model in your signature to make it easier for us to identify your vehicle details and provide more targeted answers.

I'm going to guess at 350.

Is it part 65 on the attached image? If so, part number 181 990 01 68 and also used M117, M188, M198, M186, M114, M180, M110, M189 etc etc etc

So it should be pretty easy to get your hands on one.

Hi Fotografa,

thanks for you reply & sorry for my very late reaction. My email notification was turned off so I had no idea that someone had actually reacted...
You were right, my engine is M116 and nr 65 was the part. I have been able to find it, MB spares had one in stock.
Engine is back together and running very well now ; )
cheers
