Masterpiece of Engineering Aerodynamic Design

Post by peter b »

I drove my 450SLC in the lashing rain for the first time last weekend as I got caught out whilst cruising around the Adelaide Hills (The Angas River scenic route for locals).

Well what a masterpiece of German engineering design. I've discovered the windflow over the windscreen keeps it practically clear in-between wiper swishes. It was astonishing. The side windows were clear and visibility remained excellent. I've driven many different makes of cars in the lashing rain (I used to live in Scotland!) but never experienced such efficent visibility aerodynamics. Those Stuttgart boys in the 1970s design dept knew a thing or two.
