R107 Hardtop Stand Recommendations?

Post by Panzerwagen » Mon 31 Dec, 2018 8:32 pm

Hello all, happy new year.

I am looking to purchase a stand for an R107 hardtop.

The SL Shop offers this one, which looks quite good: https://www.theslshop.com/mercedes-benz ... stand.html

If anyone is in a position to recommend a stand like this, I would very much appreciate their thoughts.

Thank you.

Hi Mr. Panzerwagen ;-)

no space for a lift? It's out of the way and it makes it a lot easier to install it on the car ...

Hello Thomas, I hope you are well.

Thanks for your quick reply! I really appreciate your suggestion.

That lift is a very good idea, but I'm unable to mount one in my current space. I will certainly consider it in future.

No worries,

here's a link, where I got my stuff from (Berlin), in case you have problems with the other supplier:

If you know how to weld, i made one from scrap tube laying around. Ive since upgraded it to have hanging hooks at the back and 4 swivel castors...a coat of black paint and some rubber strips to prevent scratches. Total cost $6 (for the castors...).

I like the look of the Thomas one! Ive tried a couple of ways to lift and its always a bit awkward but that's been built by a smarter bloke than me. Are they just firm foam blocks in contact with roof? It looks like rod/turnbuckles to the rear from the metal 'T' frame. I picture it using the mount bits that stick out to attach the frame to. What are the three long rods pointing upwards? I'm trying to picture if 113 and 107 have same basic mountings and would fit both - they don't mention 113 in the website. I know with past attempts to rig up straps to lift, I have felt very nervous with all that weight hanging above my car! I have a home made stand but having someone muscly enough to lift it off has been my main problem.

HI Craig,
when I rebuilt my garage I posted those pics from the actual lift installation (still the same lift):

Thank you Craig, but I've actually come around to Thomas' lift idea!

Appreciate your suggestion though. Cheers.
