Mystery 190SL rumour approaches resolution.

Post by stumpjumper » Sun 09 Sep, 2018 9:51 pm

I posted this in the right W121 area, so I thought. I didn't realise that W121 roadsters have their own special slot. There's nothing like that in the W123 slum.

I'm getting closer to some useful information on the whereabouts of a supposed 190SL, dismantled for restoration by its owner in SA and unwanted by his less handy widow. The source of the rumour is a local vintage car restorer, who asked me if I knew anyone who could tell the lady what the shed full of parts might be worth. I advised the guy that an inventory should be done, for which access to the car was needed. 'I'll ask,' he said, and that's where it got to. Apparently the vintage guy now has some details. I'm seeing him tomorrow, and I'll report back here.

Any news on this? I'm looking for a 190SL project (anything, actually!). Dave
