250SE Top end rebuild

Post by vhhemi » Sun 19 Feb, 2006 1:35 pm

My 250SE will need the head to be rebuilt soon. It needs valve guides and seats. These will obviously be upgraded for unleaded.
My mechanic also tells me it needs new rocker gear..
What other modifications would anyone recommend? EG. Camshaft regrind (better torque), porting, increased compression???... Parts suppliers...

I reckon you could probably find some good secondhand rocker gear. Recommend you get advice from MB Spares though as they will tell you what is best to do and will be able to sell you good s/h stuff if it is appropriate and you will know it is 'good'.

Be warned if your head shop try's to tell you that the seats need to be replaced as part of a conversion to unleaded. As we all know now form this topic

they are plenty good enough. The only thing that you can do to a MB head while you have it off is make sure they do a three sided cut to the valve seat rather than just grind it.

O and make sure to buy your parts from M.B Spares (thanks Craig and warren)
