280SE Fuel Injection

Post by Oldgerman » Wed 18 Jan, 2006 2:49 pm

I am just about to buy a 68 280SE with fuel injection and I was after a bit of info.

The injection system looks similar to the 'mechanical' system that I think was made by Lucas and fitted to similar period Triumphs and Saabs. Is this correct? the only reference to early fuel injection systems on W108 is the D-Jetronic on the 3.5l. The engine is defintely a 6 cylinder  so what system is it?

Anybody got any detailed info on its operation?

Thank you (in advance) for your help

Bosch mechanical injection simalar to the Lucus system but far superior. Works on the same principles as diesel injection but with less importnace on the pump timing.

Very reliable so long as it is set up correctly and serviced correctly.

You must have genuine manusl to work on these cars.
