Just bought W109 3.5
Hi guys just bought a W109 and love it.
I think the suspension is leaking somewhere, it goes down overnight all the way.
All new to me and need some advice what to look at to fix that issue?
What i have noticed is that the Airbags under the car are quiet cracked looking.

Thank you. I bought it because of exactly that reason. I want it to make the way i like it to be. It will be a full restoration.

Welcome here,
and have a lot of fun with your car. It's your car, so do as you please ... at least you can't lower it anymore ... any more mods other than the wheels?

Thanks guys. I want to restore the car to its original glory. No mods at all. I really don't like the wheels and will definitely get rid of them.

Re: Just bought W109 3.5
If the bags were the leak, it would not come up at all.
Its usually the control valves (two front, one rear, one main control).
Its often just some of the rubber hoses or even just O-rings.......
Get it up onto a drive on hoist, and go to town with a squirt bottle of bubble bath to find most leaks.
Invest some long winter days reading the M100Group website (6.3s are the same suspension).
Heck.....I even have some air spares for the 3.5 (bellows, tanks, pumps).
Congrats on your mighty fine purchase!!
BTW - what part of Oz are you in ??

Re: Just bought W109 3.5
Thank you so much for the tips. I definitely will do that asap as soon the time allows it. I would be very interested in the spare parts!!
I live in north qld. Near townsville. Originally from germany but.
The bellows are very porous though i reckon the rear ones are borderline. Once i have it on the hoist i will take some close up pictures.
It definitely needs some tlc [emoji6]

Re: Just bought W109 3.5
The bags can look terrible with cracks all over the place, but that does not mean they are the likely source of the leak. As has been said, it is most likely the valves 0 the rear ones and two front ones. It is not likely to be the main control valve. I had my valve rebuilt probably 11 or 12 years ago, and never a problem since and it stays up for months.
