Hi all...Knowledge /guidance requested.....battery warning light stays on at idle. Goes out as accelerate and at usual cruising speeds. Fairly new/full strength battery( 3.5 years old).

Consensus would be that your alternator regulator is near kaputt.

It's an easy change - back of the alternator.

If you have a multi-meter then measure the voltage across your battery at idle. Should be over 14 volts.

Ring the forum sponsor - MB spares to get a new one - they are cheap.
it's an easy DIYer.

The brushes on the regulator wear down with age.
