Hi Dean,

Thanks for the offer but have been able to source one locally which will save on the postage. Appreciate your help though.

Should be interesting to see how Sadie goes at auction. Rust action will affect the price especially if Sadie has the rubberised factory under body rust proofing. If the rust has had a good start probably around the $3500 mark.

Hi Carina,

Thanks for the reply....is that $3500 for rust repair?? Or an offer to add to your collection :laughing6: :laughing6: ? Have you had much experience with the dreaded rust? Had thought of auction but would need to be the right auction house to generate interest

Hello Honey
Ive had a fair amount of experience cutting out rust on a Gen 1 coupe , thinking about it the only parts Ive not had to do are the pillars and rear wind screen!!!!
PM me with your email and I can send you my image file, if your game to look!
The corner in the image had been rusted away around the tail light. I was lucky to get a replacement from Dean in WA which made the job much easier.

Don't let Mrs Carina see these posts to "Hello Honey" and talk about "offers"! :laughing5:

I've just purchased a 500SEC and I'm trying to locate the history. VIN is WDB1260442A118613 imported in 1993. The vehicle I believe is a 1986 model.

I cannot locate the vehicle on ppsr website.

Vehicle is unregistered and in Queensland. Has been off the road for some time due to a front end collision.

What I'm wanting to confirm includes confirming legitimacy of the import for future registration.

I am confident it has been registered in Australia before but not sure in which state.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Paul.

Yes you called it. I've got the vin and import tag but no record with Qld transport. Bit odd really..

Awesome. I remember Ray saying project was unfinished at the time (late last year), what work needs to be done?

Not sure what state owner (who passed away) lived in.

Front rail left needs to be straightened but otherwise everything has been repaired and ready to go back on the car.

Interior is pretty fine.

Looking good +++
Suggest you remove those chrome wheel arch trims they are a trap for moisture and causing rust issues - the coupe will look better without them anyway.
Nice colour and looking very sweet.
Check all the usual spots to ensure no rust - under the doors where the drain holes are - rear parcel shelf - climb in the boot with a torch- front and rear wheel arches in the lower corners check behind for build up of accumulated mud and treat immediately - get in their with a torch. Front sunroof drain pipes exit down on the chassis rail. Rear tail-lights recess - pull the tai-lights out and check. Boot drain holes in the well storage recesses each side of the spare tyre - notorious for rust starting around the drain hole.
Dump all fluids and replace with fresh - brakes/engine/trans/diff/power steering - swap in a new p/s filter at the same time.

Give the interior leather a treat with leatherique process as well as ordering some matching dye to touch it all up where any signs of wear and get the colour back to new.
Check along the tops of the rear seats for the leather drying out and going hard. Can be restored back to soft supple leather with the leatherique treatment process.
If it has a factory CAT still installed from new - swap it out for a modern high flow CAT or 2 x CATS if you have twin dumpers/dual exhaust all the way - the engine will breath a lot better.
Your age might not have a CAT -if so even better with no CAT.
Check your ball joints for good dust seals and steering idler arm for any play (need a 2nd person for that to watch for movement when the steering wheel is moved back and forth - same check tie rod ends etc for play.

Lastly - Best advice i can give is swap out the injectors for new and the injector seals - old injectors have poor spray pattern increasing fuel economy and reducing engine performance.
