Flame suit on .....

There is still plenty of them at self service wreckers to allow me to rat the bits to update my W123s. Primary items are

Front Brakes + Booster
Leather steering wheel
Becker 1432 / 780
Front seats
Rear reading lights
Outside Temp Gauge and sender
and 1 day, nice euro spec M117 ....

Seriously tho, saw a run down 380SEC at Allan Lennox the other day, even neglected, they look good. Was hoping this one was going to get the treatment.

I can't see the picture either, just the word 'image' - but i have seen Freddie in the flesh.... not a bad looking rooster!
Why do I get the feeling that Paul and Craig are trying to set Freddie and Marilyn up on a blind date? :smilebox:

One of the things that appeals to me about the W126 is the great ads that appeared over the years and some of the great photos that have been put up on the Web by Fellow W126 Nutters. For eg....from US Benzworld site...

Thanks for that Kim - had a bit of a look. I can appreciate all of them but realise i have the sedan i like the best. Often i like early 'purest' form of the designer, before the stylers try and 'improve' it. And i can appreciate the 'high riding' gen 1 but really like the long wheelbase gen 2, sitting down, bigger wheels etc, love the dark colours and as much as i love my SEC with body kit, like the SEL just as it left the factory. Each to their own of course, just glad got the right one for me..... like it so much I have a pair of matching dark blue 560SEL..... need to sell one but I don't think I can be truly happy unless i have at least one!

Must have been a design addition after so many Benz owners complained about banging their heads on the front grille of earlier models!

Oh!oh! Craig....just hinting that you might sell one of your 560SEL's could encourage a whole flock of W126 Nutters to be on your doorstep!
Now how long will it take me too get to Adelaide? :notworthy: :laughing6:

Absolutely - bloddy W108.... my hair line is receding and my biggest fear of going bald is all the scarring on my head will make me look like i am some sort of street fighter! Boot lids too - the guy who had the final say on design must have been particularly short.... or has a sick sense of humour.

OK, speaking of appeal, what do you Fellow W126 Nutters think of the attached photo?

It's the first time I have seen a W126 with colour matched hubcaps. They were common on previous models such as the W116, 108, 123 etc.

Any thoughts? :dontknow:
Cheers,
Kim

I am sure you could push the earlier painted caps into the standard gen 1 14" rims, but I always thought they had plastic ones with the steel rims. But you never know - they were still producing 107 at the same time and not seen those with plastic - I think a lot of the time you hear people say 'that's not correct, but i reckon if you ordered a new car and said i don't want that plastic rubbish that they would have been happy to fit those. As to the look - not right to my eye but you never know could grow on me.

Thanks for the comments Craig. I must admit that I am not sure about the coloured hubcaps either. But like you, it could grow on me...like moss on a rock!

Meanwhile, Erick in Denmark recently posted why he loves :love4: his W126 '89 300SE........

This guy in Charleston, South Carolina is rapt in his recently acquired W126 300SE.

Don't you love it when they get their first W126 and as they do a tour around the car they discover the little delights of a W126.....such as: "Oh look, this car has little lights in the door...how cool is that!"

Near the end of the vid, he sniffs the air and says that he thinks one of his neighbours is smoking weed! A nice touch!
